  • "RODCHENKO PHOTOGRAPHY" par Alexander LAVRENTJEV. Editions Rizzoli, New York en collaboration avec Schirmer-Mosel, Munich. 1982. in-8, reliure toilée grise sous jaquette photo. Non paginé. Texte en anglais "A New Way of Seeing the World" par A. Lavrentjev, illustré de 159 reproductions photographiques noir & blanc, pleine page pour la plupart. "Artist-turned-photographers have held a special place in the history of photography. The influence of Alexander Rodchenko was first as a revolutionary artist in design and graphic art and then as one of the most innovative Twentieth century photographers. From abstract constructivist drawings, this Russian avant-garde artist took up photomontage and photography. His work reflects an obsession with movement which came about with his involvement in the Soviet cinema, machinery, modernization and technology. The photos are filled with startling perspectives, angles and proportions, his portraits captures his colleagues in the avant-garde in a unique manner. Written by Rodchenko's grandson, the book includes the most important examples of the photographs many published here for the first time, although much of his work was published during his lifetime in various periodicals. The pictures have been selected from the archives of the Rodchenko family in Moscow. This first monograph devoted exclusively to the artist's photographs fills a major gap in the documentation of the period and helps trace Rodchenko's influence on a generation of photographers."
