"The present volume contains reproductions of 60 photographs by the New Zealand photographer Peter Peryer. Each is presented in isolation in order  to emphasise the singularity. All of the photographs reproduces here were taken during the period between 1975 and 1994. Both the editors of the book and the artist himself speak of a "selection", for the life's work of the 44-years-old Peter Chanel Peryer, who came quiet late to photography at the age of 32, is such more extensive. It is important to realise one thing: Peryer himself has developed a core selection of photographs chosen over and over his exhibitions, and he augments it only gradually and hesitantly. Again and again he examines the meaning and the relevance of these few photographs closely, as if surveying reality, clarifying his assessment of the central images of his "autobiography"..."
