"For several years, nearly everybody concerned with international exhibitions seems to agree that film and video determine today's art on a scale that had been unheard of since the 1960s and 1970s. Almost no major exhibition of contemporary art can do without cinema-like boxes, video installatios, and large-format prjections, and the list of thematic exhibitions dedicated to Hitchcock or Hollywood or exploring the relationship of film and art in general is becoming longer and longer. Obviuously, this development is far from coming to an end… X-Screen presents a comprehensive historical analysis of expanded forms of filmic projection. The project realized by the Msueum Moderner Kunst is aimed at a discussion and presentation of a complex constellation of films, performances, and installations, and seeks not only to take diferent historical and discursive contexts into account but also to reveal new and more geenral relations transverse to established categorizations…" Edelbert Köb.
